Snow Hill, MD, adopted the building codes of Worcester County. Snow Hill, MD, Municipal Code § 57-6 (adopted and amended). Since Worcester County adopted the 2015 IRC and IBC, Snow Hill likewise adopted the 2015 IRC and IBC along with the county's amendments. See PLRB Worcester County, MD, Building Codes.

Snow Hill, MD, opted out of the IRC requirements regarding residential fire sprinkler systems:

"Section R313.2 is deleted and omitted due to the fact that the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company is centrally located within the Town so as to provide more than adequate fire protection and Town citizens are not afforded a tax differential from Worcester County, thereby subjecting Town citizens to enhanced taxation and greater economic hardship than other county residents."

Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

In the amendments, the Worcester County does NOT adopt Appendix J as part of the code. Maryland Building Performance Standards (COMAR 05.02.07) § 02.04 A1 (adopt IBC), § 02.04 B (amend IBC), § 02.04 A2 (adopt IRC), § 02.04 C (amend IRC). Appendix J provides guidance on existing buildings.
